The Weights and Measures Office is responsible for the inspection, testing, adjusting, sealing, or condemnation of all commercial weighing and measuring devices, whether for buying, selling, hire, or reward.

It also inspections pre-packaged food and merchandise for correct weight, measure, count and labeling requirements regarding weight and measure and various state pricing regulations. Weights and Measures also inspects the calibration of vehicle tanks.

Investigations & Inspections


The office investigates all complaints upon request of short weight of commodities, short measure of firewood, and fraudulent use of weighing and measuring devices. The department checks transient vendors, hawkers, and peddlers for appropriate licenses.

Weights and measures inspects automated check out systems and proper price labeling of scanned commodities.
