Construction Update: Joseph Avenue Sanitary Sewer Improvements

The Joseph Avenue Sanitary Sewer Improvements project has been awarded to Jack Goncalves & Sons, Inc. out of Ludlow, Massachusetts.   The project will extend sanitary sewers to Grandview Drive, Joseph Avenue, Papermill Road from Mockingbird Lane to the entrance of Paper Mill School, and Christopher Drive from Amy Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac.

The contractor and the City will coordinate with homeowners door to door to confirm where the homeowner would like their sanitary service stub installed.  Once the sanitary sewers in the road have been tested and accepted by the City, the homeowner can apply through the Department of Public Works to connect to the sewer stub.

The construction is anticipated to be complete by the fall of 2017 which includes temporary patching of the roads.  The City anticipates completing final road repairs in 2018 to allow for any potential trench settlement.

A more detailed estimated project schedule provided by the contractor is below.  As construction advances, further updates to the schedule will be provided.

  • Week of April 10th:  Mobilize to the site.
  • Week of April 17th:  Excavate test holes throughout the project limits to locate existing utilities
  • Week of April 24th:  Begin installing sewers in Grandview Drive
