The FAA Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study has been submitted to the FAA for final approval. The process will take up to 180 days and conclude sometime around 1 Oct 2009. That means Westfield residents impacted by this study will begin the process of either re-locating their homes or having their homes modified with sound suppression materials sometime in the spring of 2010. The Airport Commission will begin the process of selecting a land acquisition and noise mitigation company sometime in the next 2-3 months. This company will work closely with the airport manager and handle all aspects of scheduling events, public relations, house option selections and installation or re-location projects.
A town meeting will be called to introduce the new company, coordinate specifics and begin the process of scheduling appointments with residents sometime this fall after the FAA has approved the plan. If anyone has any specific questions, please call the Airport Manager, Brian Barnes at (413) 572-6275 or (413) 531-0710 to discuss further details.
The Westfield Barnes Airport looks forward to working with all the local homeowners in the near future. |
