 | 1. Does the City of Westfield have available liquor licenses?
ANSWER: That answer varies, you would need to call the office to receive an updated answer.
2. How do I apply for a liquor license?
ANSWER: You must complete a detailed application procedure. The best way is to come into the office in person and let the office staff assist you. This way you can be sure all requirements are met.
3. How long does it take to receive a liquor license?
ANSWER: Once an application is completed, it must be approved by the local board and then submitted to the state board called, the ABCC. The local board holds meetings on the first Mondays of each month, once your application received local approval it is sent down to the ABCC. The ABCC can take anywhere from three weeks to two months depending on the tax status of the application or seller when a transfer is being applied for.
4. Can I start up my business before ABCC approval?
ANSWER: NO!
5. I want to review a file. What are your viewing hours and how much do you charge for copies of documents?>
ANSWER: License Commission file viewing hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We charge twenty cents per document copied.
6. How do I file a complaint against a licensed establishment?
ANSWER: You can file a complaint at our office against any establishment licensed by this office or any establishment that should be licensed by this office but may have opened without proper licensing. You can contact the License Commission office by calling (413)572-6202 or you can stop in at 59 Court Street, Room 211 for a complaint form. Please fill out the complaint form thoroughly before mailing it back to the License Commission office. You must return the complaint form and any attachments before we can act on your complaint. You will be contacted to discuss the matter with the License Commission.
