| VERY IMPORTANT | It is strongly recommended that you begin the application review process as soon as possible. At a minimum you should allow at least eight (8) weeks to complete the application process. You are strongly encouraged to schedule a pre-application meeting with the Principal Planner as soon as possible.
It is unlikely that an application will be approved on the night of the Public Hearing. Depending on the type of application, the permit granting authority has from 60-90 days from the close of the Public Hearing (Public Hearings may be continued to solicate additional information) to vote on an application. This may seem like a long time, but keep in mind the permit granting authority does not begin its formal review of an application until the night of the Public Hearing.
In closing, the city would like to work with you as much as possible to make the review process run smoothly. City government works very hard to make Westfield the best place to live and work. Understand we have a great deal of pride in our City and want to ensure that we grow in a positive manner.
Please note that the Site Plans, which are submitted with a Special Permit application, must meet the Site Plan requirements.

| ZONING PERMIT APPLICATION

A ZONING PERMIT (also see Article I Section 10.4 of the Westfield Zoning Ordinance) is required for any:
- erection, construction, reconstruction or alteration of any building or other structure (excluding interior alterations, and exterior alterations which are cosmetic and/or don’t increase the exterior size of the structure),
- change, alteration, extension, displacement or increase in the use of any building or other structure or lot,
- change or alteration of a lots coverage (maximum building coverage)
ZONING PERMITS should be obtained prior to filing for a Building Permit, Special Permit, Site Plan Approval or Variance. There is no Fee and applications are available in the Building Inspectors office.
