As a part of the DPW’s ongoing efforts to improve our waterways and comply with federal clean water requirements, we will be conducting sewer and drainage investigations in the area shown in the attached figure. This notice is intended to inform the public of our investigation efforts.
Private contractors hired by DPW will be in this area accessing city-owned stormwater drainage system manholes. The field team will be temporarily opening manholes to visually assess the inside of these structures and may be grabbing water quality samples from them. These investigations are weather dependent (can only investigate on dry days) and therefore the work schedule will vary by week.
This work is anticipated to continue through the fall and into winter and will commence in mid-November. Once we complete this initial investigation, we may need to follow up with specific private property inspections for investigation of suspected unauthorized connection of private sewer services with the city drainage system.
