Power Infrastructure Work in Westfield

The power company, Eversource, will be working on infrastructure within Westfield starting Monday, August 19th thru mid October.  The company has provided the notice below for the citizens of Westfield in regards the work and what can be expected.

Dear Residents of Westfield,

As part of our everyday effort to deliver dependable energy to our customers and communities, we are preparing to replace transmission structures in Westfield. Maintaining the infrastructure that supports the electric lines is one of the ways Eversource ensures the safe, secure transmission of electricity throughout the region.

Work in Your Neighborhood

Project crews are replacing deteriorated wood transmission structures with steel structures between the Coble Mountain Power Station on Granville Road in Granville and the Pochassic Substation on Oakdale Avenue in Westfield.

As part of this effort, crews will be replacing transmission structures located on Prospect Street Extension in Westfield between Jeremy Drive and Mullen Avenue, which will require traffic delays in that area.

What You Can Expect

First, we want you to know that this work will not interrupt electric service to your property, and that people working on the project carry proper identification at all times.

Beginning Monday, August 19, 2019, through mid-October 2019, we will temporarily close a section of the eastbound travel lane on Prospect Street Extension. Temporary traffic signals will be installed, and an alternating traffic configuration will be implemented.

Eversource is working with state and local officials to ensure that traffic is managed in a manner that maintains safe working conditions and minimizes impacts to vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area. Motorists approaching the work area will see message board signs warning them of the upcoming lane closure.

Please keep in mind that the schedule may change due to weather and other unexpected circumstances. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Our Commitment to You

We are committed to being a good neighbor and doing our work with respect for you and your property. For more information about this work, please call 1-800- 793-2202, or send an email to
