SPRINGFIELD ROAD CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS
The City of Westfield invites sealed bids for furnishing all labor and materials and performing all work in connection with a construction contract for SPRINGFIELD ROAD CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS
Procedures regarding bids and the selection of contractors shall be in conformity with the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30, Section 39M, as amended to date. Sealed Bids for the General Contract must be delivered to the City of Westfield Purchasing Department, 59 Court Street, Room 101, Westfield, MA 01085 prior to 2:00 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, on Wednesday, July 25, 2019 at which time and place the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the above time and date will be returned unopened.
The Project includes the following Work:
Work to be done under this contract shall consist of the intersection widening, installation of traffic control signals, signs and pavement markings at the intersections of Springfield Road and the 99 Springfield Road driveway. Work under this contract shall consist of improvements to roadway pavement surface on Springfield Road from the U-Haul Facility to Deals 4 Wheels, a distance of approximately 1,260 feet.
The work consists of furnishing and installing traffic signs, pavement markings, mast arms and foundations, posts and bases, signal housings, vehicle detectors, pull boxes, wires, cables, traffic controller and cabinet, making all electrical connections, tying in electrical service connection and providing all incidental materials and labor necessary for operation of the traffic control signals in accordance with the project plans and specifications.
Specific work items on this project also include implementation of traffic signal coordination for through traffic progression at the intersections of East Main Street / Little River Road, Springfield Road / Union Street, Springfield Road / Wal-Mart driveway, and Springfield Road / East Mountain Road.
