[ARCHIVED] Westfield Police and WPD Cadets Host Annual Toy Drive

3acf6992e7f7ed4f5f7eaf4d7f822f7b

The Westfield Police Department and the Westfield Police Cadets will be hosting a Toy Drive at three different locations on Saturday, December 11, 2021.  Police officers and Cadets will be accepting donations at Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, from 9 am until 5 pm, Five Below, 287 East Main Street from 10 am to 2pm, and Dollar General, 617 Southampton Road from 10 am to 2 pm.

This annual event provides toys and gifts for Westfield children from preschool to middle school (ages 3 to 14).  Each year, with the generous donations of Westfield residents, the police department and the cadets are able to provide over 300 children with up to 5 presents each.

The cadets provide hundreds of volunteer hours to make this happen.  After spending the day collecting toys they are given a list of children which is provided by the Westfield Public Schools.  The cadets spend the bulk of those volunteer hours sorting over 1500 toys to make sure each child receives something appropriate given their age and gender.  The sorted toys are then handed over to the school department who distributes the toys to the families.  For several days following this toy drive, the police department garage bays are transformed into Santa's Workshop at the North Pole!

Please join the Westfield Police Department and the Westfield Police Cadets on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at one of the three locations to stuff a cruiser full of toys and make a Westfield child’s holiday something to remember.
