[ARCHIVED] Landlord and Property Management Seminar

Landlord Group

We’re back!  After a two year Covid hiatus, The Westfield Crime Free Multi Housing Group will begin meeting in person again!

Landlords and property managers don’t miss this free seminar on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, 6:00 pm, at Shaker Farms Country Club, 866 Shaker Road, Westfield.

Started by the Westfield Police Department, this organization has been active for over 15 years and was created to educate landlords and property managers on issues pertinent to owning, renting and managing residential properties.  Whether you own one property or many, have been doing this for years or are just purchasing your first property, this group offers free education and information to help protect you and get the best possible tenants for your investment.

This seminar will have members of the Westfield Police Department on hand to go over recent trends in law enforcement, crime issues, and to answer questions.  We will have two key note speakers from the Western Division Housing Court, Clerk Magistrate Michael J. Doherty and Chief Housing Specialist Jenni Pothier!   Jenni Pothier has been the Chief Housing Specialist since 2019 and specializes in court mediations and oversees training and resources for the Housing Specialist Department.  Clerk Magistrate Michael Doherty has over 20 years of experience with housing matters, working in the Housing Court for over 18 years, first as a Housing Court Specialist, then First Assistant Clerk Magistrate, and now as Clerk Magistrate in the Western Division Housing Court. Both experts will present information on the court process for those unfamiliar with it, as well as cover how the court system and practices have changed post Covid. No one goes into property management with the goal of ending in Housing Court, but if you find yourself there our key note speakers will provide you with the information you need to make the process as easy as possible.

From 6:00 to 7:00 pm is a social hour and optional RSVP buffet dinner for a fee, and at 7:00 pm, the informational portion of the program will begin.  Again, this seminar is free, unless you would like to purchase dinner.  If you would like to RSVP to purchase dinner please click this link for the RSVP form, or e-mail Lt. Eric Hall at e.hall@cityofwestfield.org.  Although an RSVP is not required to attend, it is helpful for planning purposes.  If you have questions or for more information about this meeting, again, please contact Lt. Eric Hall at e.hall@cityofwestfield.org or (413) 642-9383.

Update:  9/9/22.  There will be a 50/50 Raffle and Bank ESB has generously donated a swag bag containing some branded items and a $50 Home Depot gift card!
