Location: Behind 120 Honey Pot Road
Access: Through the adjacent Wildlife Mangement Area (WMA) off of Honey Pot Road in Southwick. (Click here for directions). Please note, WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.
Description: 28 acres of mixed wood forest and wetland, landlocked between the Westfield WMA owned by Mass. Division of Fish and Game and a portion of Silvio O Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge of the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife.

History: The Honey Pot Conservation Area was donated in 1985 by Wesley and Jane Stickel when they subdivided their lot. As one of the first parcels acquired by the Conservation Commission, it does not have a formal restriction on the property. The Deed of Sale however states, "forever used only for conservation purposes authorized by M.G.L. Ch. 40 Section 8C [the Conservation Commission Act]." According to the owner of the adjacent lot created during the subdivision, the Honey Pot Road Conservation Area is one of the locations where they took the sand for the creation of the sand filters at the Springfield Water and Sewer Plant which is what caused the creation of a wetland habitat.

Permitted Uses: Wildlife Observation, Bird Watching, Research and Education. Please note, access to the property is through the Honey Pot WMA, which all allows for hunting, trapping, and dogs (must be on leash, except when used for hunting). Please respect the permitted uses of the Honey Pot WMA in your travels to the Conservation Area. Click here for information on the Honey Pot WMA.

Prohibited Uses: Dumping, off-road or unauthorized vehicles, alcoholic beverages, camping, destruction of vegetation, fires, mountain biking, horseback riding, mining. Regulations for the Honey Pot WMA can be found here.
