Conservation Commission

Overview

The Westfield Conservation Commission is a seven member board charged with administrating the Westfield Wetlands Protection Ordinance #1738, Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (M.G.L. Chpt. 131 § 40), and its regulations (310 CMR 10.00). The Commission works to protect and enhance wetlands and wildlife habitat, to maintain natural resources, and to preserve the quality of life for all inhabitants of Westfield by controlling activities that take place is Areas Subject to Protection. The Commission administers the commonwealth’s wetlands regulations by determining wetland boundaries; reviewing and permitting projects proposed in or near wetlands and associated buffer zones; and by placing conditions on development projects that affect wetlands.

Regular meetings are held except in June, July, August, and December. Schedules for those months are posted on the bulletin board in the basement by the handicap entrance to City Hall.
